LIVERPOOL VS BARCELONA
Tuesday 6 March 2007 19:45

A wonderful atmosphere is expected as Liverpool go into the second leg of their Champions League tie with Barcelona 2-1 up.

A brilliant goal from John Arne Riise ensured the Reds won at the Nou Camp for the second time in their history in the first leg.

Samuel Eto’o is likely to start for Barcelona after missing the first leg and he is a world class player who will need to be watched like a hawk.

Liverpool have world class players’ of their own though and with the crowd behind them Rafael Benitez’s men will hope to finish the job off at Anfield and ensure a passage through to the quarter-finals.

The Reds’ last victory over Barcelona at Anfield came in the UEFA Cup semi-final in 2001 when a Gary McAllister penalty gave Liverpool a 1-0 win.

March 2, 2007
LIVERPOOL V MANCHESTER UNITED
Saturday 3 March 2007 12:45

Liverpool welcome Manchester United to Anfield in one of the biggest fixtures on the English football calendar.

The rivalry is intense and Liverpool will be hoping to close the gap at the top of the Premiership with three priceless points.

Back in October United won the corresponding fixture 2-0 at Old Trafford. Liverpool’s last victory over United in the Premiership was a 1-0 win in April 2004 courtesy of Danny Murphy’s penalty.

Last season this corresponding fixture ended in a goalless draw but Liverpool beat United 1-0 in the FA Cup 5th round after a goal from Peter Crouch.

LIVERPOOL V SHEFFIELD UNITED
Saturday 24 February 2007 15:00

Liverpool welcome Sheffield United to Anfield with the Blades in good form since the turn of the new year.

After an early struggle adapting to life in the higher division, Neil Warnock’s side earned themselves a real confidence booster when they beat Arsenal over Christmas 1-0 at Bramall Lane.

The two teams met at the start of this season when a Robbie Fowler penalty earned the Reds a point after Rob Hulse had headed the Blades into the lead.

The last time the two sides met at Anfield was the Carling Cup semi-final in 2003 when Liverpool won 3-2 on aggregate.

Preview UCL : BARCELONA VS LIVERPOOL

February 20, 2007
BARCELONA V LIVERPOOL
Wednesday 21 February 2007 19:45

Liverpool head to the Nou Camp for the first leg of their eagerly anticipated Champions League last 16 clash with Barcelona.

The match which will see Steven Gerrard pit his wits against Ronaldinho is an exciting one and Liverpool will be hoping to get a good result here to take back to the second leg at Anfield.

The Reds actually beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the UEFA Cup semi-final in 1976 and in doing so became the first and so far only English team to win at the famous stadium.

Liverpool last played at the Nou Camp in the Champions League in March 2002 when the match ended up in a goalless draw. Barcelona had won the previous game 3-1 against Gerard Houllier’s Liverpool team.

Preview EPL : LIVERPOOL VS EVERTON

February 2, 2007
LIVERPOOL V EVERTON
Saturday 3 February 2007 12:45

It’s the 205th Merseyside derby from Anfield as Liverpool bid to win back pride for the red half of the city after we lost 3-0 back in September at Goodison Park.

Andy Johnson scored twice on that particular day but the Reds did hit the post twice and had a blatant penalty claim waved away. However the Blues are likely to be without Johnson against Liverpool as he has an ankle injury.

Last season Liverpool did the double over Everton winning both 3-1 at Goodison Park and at Anfield. In last season’s Anfield derby Steven Gerrard was sent-off while Everton also finished with 10 men after Andy Van Der Meyde was sent-off.

Premiership : LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA

January 14, 2007
LIVERPOOL V CHELSEA
Saturday 20 January 2007 12:45

Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield with the Reds hoping for a victory to close the gap at the top of the table.

Jose Mourinho’s side are locked in a championship battle with Manchester United and Liverpool will be hoping for their first Premiership victory over Chelsea at Anfield since a Michael Owen goal gave the Reds a 1-0 win in October 2002.

Earlier this season a fantastic goal from Didier Drogba gave Chelsea a 1-0 win over Liverpool but Rafael Benitez’s side were very unfortunate not to take anything out of the game. Liverpool created some good chances on the day but ended up with nothing to show for their efforts.

The last time Liverpool beat Chelsea at Anfield was of course the unforgettable Champions League semi-final in 2005.

Premiership : WATFORD VS LIVERPOOL

January 10, 2007

Saturday 13 January 2007 12:45

Liverpool play their first away match of 2007 when they travel to relegation threatened Watford.

Aidy Boothroyd’s side are bottom of the table but they showed at Anfield over Christmas that they are a tough and physical side to play against. Goals from Craig Bellamy and Xabi Alonso eventually turned the tide in Liverpool’s favour.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster showed at Anfield what an outstanding talent he is and Dirk Kuyt and company will be hoping to test him to his limit at Vicarage Road.

Boothroyd has also signed a player since the defeat at Liverpool and boosted his strike force with the early January capture of Moses Ashikodi from Rangers.

FA Cup : LIVERPOOL VS ARSENAL

January 2, 2007

Saturday 6 January 2007 17:15

Liverpool begin the defence of the FA Cup with a classic encounter against Arsenal.

This match will evoke memories of the 2001 final when Michael Owen scored twice to give the Reds a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium.

Arsenal got their revenge the following season when they beat Liverpool 1-0 at Highbury in a stormy encounter when they finished the game with nine men. Jamie Carragher was sent-off for Liverpool while Martin Keown and Dennis Bergkamp saw red for Arsenal. Bergkamp got the winner for Arsene Wenger’s team.
