It’s Matchday Six in Group A of the Champions League and nothing less than a win will do if Liverpool are to keep their hopes of a sixth European Cup success alive into the new year.

Rafa Benitez’s side were faced with a mountain to climb after losing 2-1 away to Besiktas on Matchday Three but after a record-breaking win over the Turks at Anfield and a thumping 4-1 triumph against Porto, the Reds know that victory at the Stade Velodrome will book their place in the knockout stages and prove their doubters wrong.

Liverpool’s precarious position in the group is as a result of the 1-0 defeat they suffered against Eric Gerets’ side when they visited Anfield in October, a match Rafa Benitez admitted was one of the poorest performances of his time at the club.

But the Reds are a different side to the one that suffered such a major setback against their Gallic counterparts and their away form this season, Besiktas aside, has been magnificent.

To continue that they will have to improve on their poor record against the French outfit, especially if they are to return home with the three points that will see them through to the knockout phase.

The sides have met on just three occasions but surprisingly the Reds have yet to win, managing a draw and two defeats, one of which saw them eliminated from the fourth round of the Uefa Cup back in 2004.

Benitez and co will be hoping it’s a case of fourth time lucky if they are to prevent a Group stage exit for the first time since 2002.

WelCome To Anfield The Killer

July 3, 2007

Daniel Pacheco Lobato ( Dani Pacheco)

is half Spanish and half Czech, and he plays in Barca’s Cadet B team.

Nicknamed The Killer, this 16 year old who came in from Mallaga has been dazzling football onlookers ever since. His natural gift is in goalscoring and he somehow always manages to get the ball in the net despite the number of defenders around him.
He looks like a candidate to chase the record of Barca B goal machine , Bojan Krkic who has an amazing 889 goals in his kitty.

He has well graduated form the standards of the cadets and is a natural born scorer, who has had impressive goal tallies to his sheet, including series of hat-tricks, braces and singular strikes that have changed the entire course of games he has played in.

Pacheco, one of the pearls of the youth team, ‘flees’ to Liverpool

The never ending story. England has set it’s sights yet another one of the emerging figures in the blaugrana youth setup and, this time, they’ve managed to pry it away from Barça. In this occasion, the ‘robbery’ has been committed by Liverpool, who have taken Daniel Pacheco with them, central forward of the U-16 team.

The young player, who, despite having just turned 16 this past January, has already been used regularly for Alex Garcia for the U-18A, has decided to accept the ‘Reds’ offer to play in England for the next 3 seasons. Although Barça has tried to keep the player under it’s wing, the agreement between the English club and the player is irreversible.

Garcia Pimienta, his manager at the U-16A’s this season, considers that he is “a big loss for the club because we’re talking about a striker with lots of quality and a goalscorer. He’s been our top goalscorer, reaching almost 30 goals and he’s already played with the U-18A’s, so i don’t think this is a sporting issue, because he is highly valued at the club”. The coach considers that “along with Thiago Alcantara and Gai Assulin he is one of the U-16 players with best prospects that we have, but there is nothing we can do now. It all happen very fast”.

Dani Pacheco arrived in Barcelona from his native Malaga and has spent the last four years at the club. Now, like Cesc, Pique or Fran Merida before him, he’s gone to England.…dseccio_PK=803
